Setting Up Your FeedBurner Account for Tweets

FeedBurner Feeds

There is more than one reason to generate a free RSS feed from FeedBurner for your blog. Updates from Google have expanded the functionality of the FeedBurner RSS reader software. Now you can send a tweet from your blog by using the proper settings found on the RSS feed list dashboard. To get started you need an active blog, a Twitter account and a Google account. Syndicate your blog content via FeedBurner at http://feeds.feedburner.com (referred to as burning a feed) and you are ready to go.

Here's a video with step-by-step instructions for generating an automated feed from your blog's RSS directly to Twitter.

Goo.gl link shortener

Give it a try, go ahead and "Socialize" your tweets with FeedBurner. As you can see in the video you can customize these parameters:

Hi Ileane!

I've got give this a try. I recently disabled a WordPress plugin that was supposed to do the same thing. The reason? EVERY time I edited a post, it retweeted! Since I was doing general SEO on a bunch of old posts, dozens of tweets went out and then went through to Facebook. I was so embarrassed.

Surely, Google won't let that happen?

Cheers,

Mitch

Hello Ileane,

Great tips, I had no idea that feedburner could send out tweets as well. I used to have a plugin that tweeted my posts but kept having problems. Now I just go to my own post after I publish and hit the tweet button :-). Doesn't take much time since I am already on the page making sure it looks ok.

I had to turn off my click tracking buttons in feedburner because they were interfering with my commentluv links. I will go back in and check on the twitter part of feedburner though. If it works without a glitch I will go for it.
